While the Caribbean enjoys the latest Hollywood
films which reflect western values, their own filmmakers wanting
to express Caribbean mores and experiences, find tremendous difficulties
in doing so, not least in the areas of a common language, modern
facilities and distribution. Film Festivals are one way of whipping
up regional interest in Caribbean productions in order to combat
the endless flow of entertainment from American films, T.V. and
DVD rentals. So, if you are here at Film Festival time, get down
to Movie Towne and enjoy the T&T premiere of some critically acclaimed
films.
