Whats On... In Tobago

Tobago Film Festival

5th T&T FILM
FESTIVAL

Movie Towne September 2010
Welcome to the T&T Film Festival, a non-profit making organisation now in its 5th year and run by a small dedicated team of Directors supported by professionals, advisors and volunteers.

The Movie Towne cinemas located on both Islands are the main venues for a wide range of films and documentaries produced by Caribbean film makers and the Caribbean diaspora in North America and Europe.
For the 4th Film Festival a selection of films from India were shown as well as some of the best British productions from London's Black Filmmakers Group (bfm). A terrific double feature on the life and times of Che Guevara, his role in the Cuban revolution and his death in Bolivia was just one of many highlights of the Festival.

While the Caribbean enjoys the latest Hollywood films which reflect western values, their own filmmakers wanting to express Caribbean mores and experiences, find tremendous difficulties in doing so, not least in the areas of a common language, modern facilities and distribution. Film Festivals are one way of whipping up regional interest in Caribbean productions in order to combat the endless flow of entertainment from American films, T.V. and DVD rentals. So, if you are here at Film Festival time, get down to Movie Towne and enjoy the T&T premiere of some critically acclaimed films.
